Be understanding

by Marisa Lishay   Jun 8, 2004

If you understand,
and you know that it hurts me,
why do you CONTINUE to do it?
is it that amusing? if your love is that strong, then it shouldn't be amusing.

Being self-conscious isn't something i am proud of,
it's something I've learned to deal with.
i wish you would.

otherwise, i am sorry.
please, help me out of my depression.

i won't mention any names, you know who you are.

I enjoyed this poem for a couple of reasons. It is strange and different in that some of the stanzas are more like paragraphs. This poem creates a bridge between poetry and other types of writing, especially because it didn't really rhyme and it didn't have a lot of rhythm. I felt this poem was the equivalent of a "stream of conciousness" paragraph in, for example, A Farewell to Arms by Hemmingway. I think you should consider fixing up all the capitalization and grammatical errors, though, as it will make it easier to read.
