The Children Know

by Paralyzed   Nov 7, 2008

Swinging from forgotten promise
Outside a broken home
Tender hearts of innocence
So lonely as they roam

Children of the dying world
Left to grow alone
Parents drown inside their realm
Of blood and broken bone

Who will teach, who will learn
When all is said and done
Growing minds soaking in
Mistakes that we begun

Young ones see, old ones know
Destruction in between
Children absorb everything
We thought we left unseen

Thanks for entering this piece in the contest, it was a pleasure to read, I especially liked the way you ended it, kids are a lot smarter than we give them credit for and they absorb so much more than we know. Good job!
