Sonnet 8: The Ship Sails

by Soulful Ensemble   Nov 7, 2008

My thumb's been aching from the words you said
As you turned your butt around and fled.
The ship has sailed leaving me all crashed
On the pavement with my brains so splashed.
I'm counting the wallflowers until you come
And the blackened roses are ready to turn to crumbs.
Pieces of my mind all over the concrete floor
For the world to see as litter upon their door.
No goodbyes, as shattering space and time
Convulse and retreat to the marching rhyme
That darkness writes throughout the sky
So pretty birds no longer wish to fly.
When you point and laugh at the mockingbird
This clown's tears are loudly heard.
