Sleeping Beauty

by Soulful Ensemble   Nov 7, 2008

Hey Sleeping Beauty, I stood by your bed yesterday and you didn't wake,
But I heard you were up today and didn't bother to fake.
I know when I sit next to you, you open your eyes and think that I don't notice it,
You're a snake in the grass and I'm all out of rat poison to make you a steak.
Why don't you give me a favor, next time you awake,
call me an idiot to my face, when you do it behind my back you look so fake
Like Cinderella's step sisters crying at a wake.

For now, give me a favor, stay away from me Sleeping Liar,
When the disappearance comes it wont be me on the flyers.
If you apologize, I can't promise a ceasefire,
But I can tell you, In our hearts you will be higher.
When its half past 6 you always say you're growing tired,
You get up and leave to retire.
And you leave us all awake and wired,
Is that the lady I admired?

Its true I married you for your looks,
I don't care about the insides of your books.
I never judged you by your forty cooks
Who make their meals rapidly and with no metal hooks
Its true you payed them well, but they were all thieves and crooks
And they only cooked so well because they liked you.
There was nothing much to admire of you,
Except your egregious cunningness that grew
It was just too much and you always knew.

So I hear you wake up when I'm not around,
And show what is on your mind to everyone in town.
Am I wrong? How does that sound?
I bet you sit around and laugh high in your tower, like a clown
And show the people you invited the diamonds on your crown
I remember you only in disgust now.
And yes I saw you yesterday and received your letters, but refuse to go down
I will not visit you if I'm alive, I will only see you when you die,
And I won't see you when I do.

I still recall your scarlet fever, and you losing your power to the illness,
I whispered something nice, and erased your helpless shivers.
You made a fool of me the next day, by sleeping through my happiness,
And showing me your atrophied spine as you slept on your selfishness.
Listen, I took all of your idiosyncrasies and got rid of mine,
I know you owe me something, and I'm fine with that.

I'll never see you again,
You're a lying witch in a dress.
You should wear a rainbow fittingly, when you're in distress
To trick and confuse the mayor into polishing up his corruptness.
I've never seen such a conniver as yourself,
Always telling lies to get what you don't deserve.
You will, indeed, end up buried in a hole, and then nobody will serve you anymore.
