Cold Rain

by shadow   Nov 8, 2008

Cold rain falls upon the hard ground
Covering the earth with its wet touch
Puddles form from this endless rain
Because the soil can only take so much

Silence is only a mere moment in time
Where one's mind may find peace at last
Letting the cold rain wash away the anger
And erase the painful memories of the past

However these moments are rare and few between
And can't always come when my hands start to shake
Nor can they come when my world, full of puddles,
Begins to crumble and fall like an earthquake

So this is where the endless questions begin
And the answers are never quite that clear
The rain just keeps on falling on me
And there's not even a single shelter near

Soon the rain will turn into a flood
Covering my head until I'm drowing inside
And even if I could swim away from this mess
There would be no place left for me to hide

If this is how my world was meant to be
Then I have no choice but to except the rain
And allow myself to drown in its cold waters
So it can wash away all my pain

Aside from the typo in the last stanza this is perfection. I love it. Your feeling conveyed is so raw. I do wish your pain to all be washed away. Remember to look for the rainbow after it all.
