The Day Two Hearts Stopped

Time creeps slowly by
this hell on Earth, my life

Sometimes I think it's all a dream
I'll wake up you'll be there
Smiling at me with that grin
the one I fell in love with

Eyes sparkling full of life
not cold fixed staring at nothing
My last vision of you, gasping for breath
My life stopped with yours

Our hearts no longer beat as one
I felt you leave me, a soft rush like a whisper
A light breeze moving my hair, just slightly
Knowing you would never return
to the body laying on the floor, now lifeless

Please don't leave me like this, alone and scared

At times I feel you near me
The smell of your cologne hangs in the air
If the wind blows through the trees just right
I can almost hear your voice calling my name
How I miss that sound

Holding your shirt tightly in my arms
feeling the soft flannel on my cheek
For a moment you're with me again
Back in time when things were simple

Now I wait
Till I too am free of my prison
When the shackles that hold me are no longer
Then again two hearts will beat as one
