Apocalypse Please

Just when you think you are okay,
safe,
happy,
normal...

Without a sound,
the world comes crashing down.

Relationships tear apart,
hand ripped from hand,
words flung from mouths
with passionate hatred.

The world loses its colour,
draining and fading into blacks and greys,
depression knocks at the door
once again.

Pain is endured by all,
no one escapes the cloud of despair
that hangs over your head
like the awaiting sword.

Then comes the greatest loss of all:
Love.

With simple, coherent words,
people die internally.
though your body is unharmed,
your mind is lost.

No pain is worse than this,
the torture of grieving.
Horrific deaths, in their thousands
are no comparison.

Most of the world moves along,
living unwanted lives,
You stand, unmovable,
where you were left.

Where it all ended.
Where it all began.
Where time has no effect.
Where words have no home.

This is the place
