The Gambler

The Gambler

I thought about it for so long
And I thought about it so hard
I Struggled to decide just how it was
That I should play my cards.

It would have been simpler,
I could have saved face
If I had just kept it my little secret
How you made my heart race.

There never really was a choice,
I simply had to let you know.
Couldn't keep emotions bottled up,
I had to let them flow.

Hoping that one day,
Understand you might
That I couldn't keep it in,
Just give up without a fight.

But now it's all over
A friendship torn and tattered
I gambled and I lost
My poor heart beaten and battered.

Past experience has shown it true
In life we need to place some bets
Otherwise we haven't truly lived
And are left holding nothing but regrets.
