Still broken

Oh, how it was not long ago
That we would spend those nights together
Talking about anything that crossed our minds
And knowing that we woud last forever

We could sit for hours just cuddling together
Holding each other so tight and never let go
Falling asleep in each other's arms
The love always seemed to flow

Now we've decided to never talk again
Because it hurts too much to mend
So I don't look at you anymore
But it hurts knowing I lost my best friend

I actually broke down today and said hello
I just wanted to see how you were
Make sure that things were going okay for you
But now the feelings have begun to stir

Why did she choose him, why did she leave
I can't believe that we said goodbye
I thought things were always going to work out
I assumed that we were going to give it another try

So now I have to look away and push the feelings aside
I have to remember that we will never be again
You always told me to never settle for someone
