Sonnet to Addiction

by TorturedTourniquet   Nov 14, 2008

Once you've gone and tasted excessive pain,
There is no way to get your old joy back.
Within addiction, dying in disdain,
We're hiding to make up for what we lack.

Shunned by all around, with no where to turn,
We find ways to cope, that make blood run cold.
We sit and we watch as our own worlds burn,
And smile and laugh while all new turns old.

We started these fights over angry hate,
With naught to stop us from losing ourselves.
Habits take over, darken our sad fates,
Tools of our death sit and stare on the shelves.

Stuck in addiction, no where left to hide,
Engulfed in fury with none on our side.
