When I Couldn't Smile Anymore

by oddi tea   Nov 16, 2008

Just when I thought I could never smile
When my heart was broken in too many ways
I saw an angel, he was not perfect by any definition
He cursed and in so many ways his heart still cries

But I saw him,
and the puzzle in his eyes,
I couldn't help it,
he had to be my prize.

Now you see, my angel is no where near pure.
Neither is he whole, not by far.
He had been through so much, this I know
Yes, he has more than just a scar.

But I couldn't stay away,
I needed him
He was an angel who was drowning
when I knew how to swim

I was to be the one who was there
When all the others had failed
But this concept was hard to understand
When he had seen more than one killed

Now before you think that I am the angel
Sent to him to save
He has helped me in so many ways
He is the spotlight in my dark hearts cave

He makes me feel loved and cared for
There is nothing I can do wrong
Even though its been just a few days
It feels like we've been for so long

I guess you can say that we
are two of the same
And without one another
we would go insane

but it is so much more than that
it is like I know him, as he does me
When a bird first learns to fly
its almost as free

I no longer worry about the past
Or even what is to come
I have the strength to stand
I no longer have to run

So just when I thought I could no longer smile
Along came an angel
He picked me out of the dark
And cared for my heart, now so fragile.

Wow, I was not expecting this. It is truely amazing and filled with emotion. I loved your metaphors and the vivid description that you painted in my mind. The power of the love you described here leaves me speechless.

    "But I couldn't stay away,
    I needed him
He was an angel who was drowning
when I knew how to swimThis is definately going on my faves."
These were some of the most romantic lines

"I have ever read.but it is so much more than that
it is like I know him, as he does me
When a bird first learns to fly
    its almost as free"
And these lines were poetic art.

    Great Job 5/5
