Monster

by Simply Complex   Nov 18, 2008

Flip sides of a coin
Cheshire cat grin
Queen of forbidden
Master of Forsaking
Evil

This thing that walks the earth
At night
Prowling, hunting, stalking, destroying
Ugly and wretched
Reeking of misery, pain and anger

Fooling its victims
Disguising itself with the beauty
It holds by day.
The kindness it once treasured.

It settles on its next meal
And slowly makes its move
Destroying it with sugar coated words,
A voice dripping with false sweetness

A gentle touch, a soft caress
A smile a wink and a kiss
The kiss of death
For once its lips touch yours you're gone

It lures you in with its poisonous lies
Hypnotizing you to believe
Seeking vengeance with its every kill
Man and woman alike it seeks.

But there's a story behind this monster
This thing that lurks in the shadows,
Behind your neighbors door

Heartbreak is its cry
And pain is its every motive
This monster was forsaken
And its heart was taken

He betrayed her
Lied to her
Destroyed her
Took her beauty and kindness

And so this monster's story is a sad one
Of pain, deceit and defeat
She gave up and let the darkness take over
And so she stalks
Seeking her revenge

And at the end of her night
Before the sun comes up
Her eyes glow red with pain
And she cries for every soul she destroyed

And as the sun rise's over the east coast beaches
And the darkness begins to lighten on the west
There's a man staring out his window
Waiting for his monster girl to come home

He wants to take her home
And make her safe
Banish the darkness and let in the light
He doesn't want to see her like this.

As the sun breaks the sky
And the stars fade to day
The monster girl is just a girl
In tattered clothes
And a tear stricken face

And he opens the door as she stumbles in
He takes her in his arms
And kisses her like the first time
And the darkness is rushed from her soul
And the light floods in

Flip sides of a coin
Cheshire cat grin
Queen of forbidden
Master of Forsaking
Evil

And it's gone.
Her prince has saved her yet again
Her angel, her perfection
Her beauty is no longer a disguise
Her words no longer venomous
Her heart is pure
And that twinkle of good has returned.

This poem has a wonderful twist...
both darkness and love fitting together...
    i find it really sweet...
the poem is marvellous...especially the ending...
yet, one of the first stanzas got me... :)

"A gentle touch, a soft caress
    A smile a wink and a kiss
    The kiss of death
For once its lips touch yours you're gone"

I liked this poem. It makes a good story. The wording was great. I gave it 5/5. I see nothing wrong with anything in this poem.
