We are only children

Children are supposed be so wild and carefree
but thats not what they want us to be
stripped of our innocence
so hard make sense
of this giant mess

why must they take childhood away
these smiles are fake
and are too easy to break
these laughs aren't real
they are our secret cries for help

no sweet dreams of fun and joy
the darkest of nightmares
creep into our minds
poisoning us
changing us
once so pure and clean
now are dirty and have no meaning

why are you doing this to such perfect spirits
why ruin such beautiful souls
this is too much hate for us to take in
experiencing more pain then we have ever before
when we are meant to be love
to be cherish, to be care for

why, why must you do this to us?
