Twilight

by Gabba Gabba Hey   Nov 19, 2008

"All living things would fade and die from too much light or too much dark, if twilight were not."
- Howard Thurman

Rays of sunshine spill from a broken train of thought,
like a balloon exploding and letting out a rainbow;

Smile, laugh! (can't you feel it waiting to burst?)

dance in the light, do not wallow in the shadows it creates!

there is more to life than floating in the clouds...and more to death than lying in the ground.

dark needles tear the serenity of night,
like a smile broken by the sight of fear;

Frown, cry! (can't you feel it waiting to burst?)

fall down into the darkness, do not try and stand on a baseless nothing!

there is less to death than what you glorify...and less to life than what you want...

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Soft light spills from a darkly turned sky
shedding both blackness and fluorescent yellow
onto a waiting world,

somehow,

bereft of both.

    I love the idea of this poem and you've got plenty of lines to connect here. The part:

    "...there's more to death than lying in the ground.."

    was truly amazing!
    not sure about those single words, they complement the suceeding lines in a way, but they didn't make the poem flow like yours usually does. Besides that I think this is a masterpiece in the making!
