What I Love The Most

by InterviewWithTheKat   Nov 22, 2008

Take my money and throw it to the sea,
Or my wealth and home in which I reside,
As wealth holds little pleasing touch for me,
I long for the love as rough as the tide.

My heart gives no home to man or to beast,
The arts is where my affection does lie.
My ears seek music, my eyes seek no feast,
Stage be my earth, red curtains be my sky.

Warm and soft lights replace the garish sun.
Bring row upon on row of velvet and oak,
Majestic, ornate and second to none.
Euphoria does my senses invoke.

Into a persona, you can vanish
To sing, dance and laugh or grieve and atone,
Dragons to slay and villains to banish
Audience there yet you still stand alone.

This is the love that my soul bears for me,
The drink and the air of my mind and soul.
My serpent is doubt, the demon I flee,
Forcing me far from my path and my goal.

Acting rains down on my life filled with drought
Among the crows, sits my snowy dove.
My candle at night, my hope next to doubt.
This is my life. It is acting I love.
