As I came to worship, looking forward to the day,
As I came to worship, chafing at the delay,
As I came to worship, searching for my friends,
I encountered the One whose love for me never ends.
As I sat in worship, feeling guilty and alone,
As I sat in worship, now longing to go home,
As I sat in worship, someone began to sing,
Of my Savior, and how He died, my great and glorious king.
As I stood in worship, tears streaming down my face,
As I stood in worship, enthralled with His wondrous grace,
As I stood in worship, not caring what others thought,
Fully longing for Him, it was His approval I sought.
As I was leaving worship, I knew I was not the same,
As I was leaving worship, now ready to live for His name,
As I was leaving worship, surrounded by my friends,
All I could think of was Jesus on whose grace I depend.
(This was written a few years ago while at a conference in Thailand. It was a time in my life that greatly changed me. My whole priorities shifted because of that experience.)
