Cold Wet Grass (Pressed Against My Back) please read

by Curing the Comon Cliche   Nov 26, 2008

The look in your eyes as they reflected the moon
A silver plate in the sky that we lay under
It rained, yesterday. The grass was still wet
We lay counting all the stars, we finished. I don't remember

There was something about the way you felt
Your finger grazed my arm, I don't know if it was on purpose
I looked over and all of the brilliant stars where in your eyes
I'm not sure of anything, but I'm sure of this

I don't know where my mind went that night
We watched the stars fall, or that could have been chemicals
I don't know, all I know is the way you felt. The way you still feel
Cold wet grass pressed against my back, in a way was comfortable

You told me how warm I was, like you always do
I think it's just a huge excuse that you use to get really close to me
An excuse you use just so you can hear my heart beat
It was slow that night, could be the chemicals, could be me.

The colours were my favourite part of the whole fireworks show
Contrast between black and whatever brilliant explosion echoed
Your hand squeezed every time the sound rushed down to us
I thought you liked big sounds, something I think I know

I kissed your hand, something I did ever since I can remember
It's because you always loved the idea of a prince charming
I know I'm neither charming, or a prince
I'm pretty good with ideas. You kissed back, tired and smiling

You fell asleep in my arms, I think I fell asleep with you
Really hard to tell, I mean I wasn't all there. Awake or sleeping?
I don't know, you were curled into my arms laying under stars
Awake or asleep, I would have dreamt that exact same thing

You said that you'd stay with me and watch the fireworks
And that's exactly what you did that night
I remember sleeping under a blanket, and waking up with you
I remember nothing ever feeling that right.
