The Razor's Edge

by Beautiful Chaos   Nov 27, 2008

Walk along the lonely ledge
Teeter totter on the edge
Where's the heart I swore to pledge
The world washed it away

Said some words you never heard
In my head a thought occurred
What's the point, it's all absurd
We're dying every day

Rant and rave, please do leave
I'm sure you'll need some time to grieve
I myself do believe
I need some room to grow

It's not me, it's really you
Yet here I am still feeling blue
Pondering what I must do
To rise from this plateau

If love again, could be sublime
My heart would drift back down through time
Doves would fly and bells would chime
Inside the insane mind

One whose sight just fades away
Lost inside another's sway
Drifting joyful to dismay
Such peace when you are blind

    Rolling between chuckling and identifying,
I thoroughly enjoyed this little ditty...music would, indeed, be fitting here...a hit I predict...'-)

Just wanted you to know how much I enjoyed this write. The rhythm was really tight and flowed well until this passage:

"Rant and rave, please do leave
I'm sure you'll need some time to grieve
    I myself do believe
I need some room to grow"

The third line seemed to falter just a bit with the missing syllable. Perhaps if you worded it like this: I, myself, I do believe

    Just a suggestion.

I did love the whole poem, though. Very thought provoking. On second thought, if I slow down the words and pause, it works out just as well.

    Still crazy,
    Jeannie
