Poor Man's Process

by Gabba Gabba Hey   Nov 28, 2008

Sandy plains wrapping around ebony words
call out to my lover tonight

I want to say something corny right now,
but my tongue can't seem to fit around the words

So smiling into your eyes, I'm content to imagine you know my mind;

and lay with you rarms around me,
tight as a cobra,
but with all the menace of a butterfly

A seagull cries a sweet surrender to the storming sea
And I forget the world for tonight

I want to tell you this is the safest I've ever felt,

but I don't want to ruin this, so I close my eyes
and imagine you know how I feel.

I can't seem to keep your name out of my mouth,
and though these roses have dried,
they're just as beautiful to me.

I stoke their delicate petals, and imagine the curves of your face
and imagine you know I still miss you

--I decided I'd try my hand at a love poem. w00t.--

    I love it.
One of the better love poems out there. It speaks the truth for a lover.

It's got all those cliche ingredients, but you manage to structure the poem in a way that makes it not feel like a cliche. I'll admit, it's not your best, but I like it:)

I usually hate this, but this one is thankfully non-generic and isn't cliche ridden. I still resisted my hopeless romanticism enough to give it a four instead of a five.
Nice work, I don't like much poetry(just as I often ignore lyrics) and in both fields love is usually a quick and easy pile of cliche's if you want to write something but have no inspiration. Clearly not with you, considering that you have just about no love poems.
