Anorexia's tricked mirror

by Tangible heartache   Nov 29, 2008

The glass mirror does not define who I am,
It only shows me a reflection.
Showing me what I can change;
It leads me into a horrible direction.

Saying, "You can be so much prettier!
To fit all your clothes, you need to be thin.
Just be half the size you are now,
Stop eating is the way to begin.

Stick your finger down your throat,
As you gag up your last meal,"
But do you look any better now?
Tell me, how do you truly feel?

Anorexia is a bad, disgusting disease,
It eats you up until you look sick,
Getting skinnier and malnutrition,
It's just an illusion; the glass mirrors own trick.

    When I first read the title, I thought it was a poem about the mirror showing more than the body, but now that I think about it, that has been done too many times. I liked how your poem went, and how true people think as that.
