Dreaming Merely

by StandStill   Nov 30, 2008

What if our dreams are but imagined
and our nightmares always real?
What if your everything is nothing
and you've forgotten how to feel?

Tears are salty oceans,
they track rivers down your spine.
They remind you of the ways you've changed,
just another prayer to father time.

Submerge yourself beneath the stars
while you breathe in the winter air.
Remember all the things you felt
when they used to stop and stare?

Can you remember the loneliness?
Do you remember that tiny ache?
The one you tried to run down the hill away from
but always ran back to by mistake?

Your dreams were never really there,
your nightmares rule your eyes.
Close them now, it's time to sleep...
dream the dream where the hero dies.
