Change

by megan   Dec 1, 2008

You say you love me
but does it show?

You say you'll change
but how will it go?

I believed all the words
all the words that flew from your mouth

They were all lies
none of it was the truth

I gave you chance after chance
but for what?

The chances you took for granted
so the wounds could be deeper cut?

I sacrificed my happiness
for a boy who thought my effort was worthless

Everyone knew I put in all the effort I could
and my love was no less than priceless

I won't let myself have any hope
and I no longer believe your empty words

Talk is cheap when it comes from you
because everything you say I've already heard

I will not wait for you to change
No longer will I objectify myself to such pain

You can put me down, and blame me like usual
but what will you gain?

You can change and I will see
but I will not let you tear me apart

You can scream and you can threaten
but I won't let you break my heart

So change as you may
become the man you are meant to be

I won't wait, but your efforts won't go unnoticed
and if you change enough, you just might end up with me.
