God with us

All-powerful, mighty creator,
To man's limited flesh now bound.
The laughter that formed the starry host,
Now confined to mere noise, mere sound.
For the limitless to be thus confined,
Seems a dark tragedy profound,
Yet the angels sing,
The angels rejoice,
All nature sings,
All say in one voice,
Emmanuel... God with us.
