Forever Changed

by Hawaiian Chick   Dec 3, 2008

I felt the cold ground below me,
as I was planted down in place,
There was shattered glass around me,
and blood covered my face.

I heard a faint voice screaming,
and I tried to lift my head,
but I couldn't move a muscle,
and I suddenly wished I was dead.

The pain that I felt then,
was more than I could bear,
I felt all wet and soiled,
as the blood soaked through my hair.

Just as I knew I was over,
a woman ran up to me,
"I'm sorry," she cried in her hands,
"I didn't know- I didn't see-"

I tried to reassure her,
but I couldn't even speak,
I closed my eyes very slowly,
feeling far too weak.

I felt my heartbeat slowing,
as I took my one last breath,
and in my head I saw the headlights,
and the tires screeching death.

She should have watched where she was going,
or I wouldn't have ended like this,
and although I'm leaving pain now,
I think about the life I'm going to miss.

I hope my family doesn't hate her,
and they forgive her just like me,
because when you hit a pedestrian,
Forever Changed you'll be.
