I Wasn't Drowning, I Was Swimming

by StandStill   Dec 4, 2008

Atlantis is in the bottom of my bathtub, sweetheart. THAT is why I went deep sea diving to the porcelain sea. Can't you understand that? I simply wanted to touch the coral city and move on, swimming past the pearls and the mermaids. It was blue and warm down there. Could you at least pretend you understand how I felt? For if not, I may feel as though I'm going mad. And if I go mad, how will I ever grow kelp in the gardens of the palace? The king promised me, PROMISED ME! that I could grow the kelp and the lilies. But only if I behave, yes, only if I behave..And I will behave.

Atlantis is this pretty blue-green chilly warmth. Everywhere there is music. But it's not like the music in the air. No. It swims down, flowing through your ears and through your veins. It sounds solid. Can sounds be solid?

Oh! And you should have seen that sunset! It was so lovely, all hues or purples and blues. All the pretty kelp lit up and I closed my eyes for just one moment so I could savor the sea smell and the Atlantis feeling.

That's all I was doing when you found me there, holding my breath.

I promise.
