While It Lasted

by Jonathan Coker   Dec 4, 2008

It was grand while it lasted
The sun shining in my face
And the birds would sing their
Beautiful song that I could listen
To all day long

I had you and that’s all that mattered
With you silky brown hair, your stunning
Brown eyes, your lips those of an angel
And your skin a soft doves kiss
You were my hearts desire and my heart
Burned like a fire

My hear now is as cold as ice
And a shattered window because
I lost the only thing that mattered

I now look back on those days
When you were mine and it
Was grand while it lasted
