Who knows?

by Helene   Dec 8, 2008

Who knows, maybe it's fate,
But it seems like forgiveness is a little too late.
And I'm not here to blame,
Like I used to before,
I just can't be the dream that you want
Any more.

I'm sorry, and I really wish you were too,
I just don't like the change
I see growing in you,
I would help steer us back there,
If I only knew how,
If we could just be the change that we're lacking,
somehow.

And who knows, maybe it's not meant to be,
we just seemed like a good thing,
sweet you and me.
Memories flashing by,
like cities on the highway,
There's a million of those pictures
where I wish we could stay.

Who knows, did we play every chance that we had?
Was it really that happy, was it really that bad?
Is it all that we're granted,
Is it all that we get,
Or have we even been given or best chances yet?

Who knows, maybe it's fate,
But is fighting for friendship ever too late?
Maybe we'll meet up again down the line,
And laugh about memories we left long behind.
Maybe we'll remember, maybe we'll sigh,
It just seems like we've come to an end, you and I.
