Deeper Into the Shadows

I was consumed,
By a life I chose,
Destined to destroy me,
Death was getting close.

An invisible force,
Pulled me down the wrong path,
It was filled with darkness and hate,
I received a devilish wrath.

I became reckless,
I didn't really care,
I made all the wrong choices,
But said everyone was treating me unfair.

Hate swelled inside me,
Mostly against myself,
I treated myself horribly,
And created my own hell.

Farther down I dwelled,
Deeper into the shadows,
Guilt inside my heart swelled,
But I couldn't stop myself.

My heart ached with pain,
My soul was torn in two,
I had to reverse the decisions I made,
So I decided to get clean, for me, not for you.
