Drowning

by Beautiful Chaos   Dec 12, 2008

A drink to drown my sorrows
A drug to quell my mind
Slipping slowly down the slope
Falling way behind

People drifting in and out
The worst ones stay the longest
Just like memories in my head
Bad ones are the strongest

My heart once beat so fearless
Spirit seemed so brave
Until I touched this misery
That holds me like a slave

Regret becomes my pillow
Holding all my tears
I've cried an ocean full of pain
And drowned inside my fears

The drink, it helps to numb me
A drug takes me away
Don't know where I'll be tomorrow
Dying here today

Now this is the one I love. It captures the pain and the hurt, everything your holding inside. It makes me feel like I'm reading the lines of your heart, the words of your life. Everything that you hold inside. It makes me think back on my life, and it makes it sadder now that I read it while listening to The Wreckage by Corey Smith [country singer]. This one definitely deserves a 100/5 on my scale of rating! Really great job. Keep writing poems =]
