If I Was Honest

by Sweet Disposition   Dec 16, 2008

If I was honest with myself,
I'd admit how much it hurts,
I wouldn't cry at certain songs
Or go to bed in his t-shirts

If I was honest with myself,
I'd agree that I don't try,
That I waste away my talent,
And just let my life float by

If I was honest with myself,
I'd say I probably should eat,
I'd wave goodbye to bones and rib cage
And warmly welcome back the meat

If I was honest with myself,
I'd have a fast funeral arranged
With the old me in the coffin,
And I'd grin at what I'd changed

But I'm not honest with myself,
Never have been, never will
Because no mammoth alteration
Will help me ever foot the bill

So I'll slap on that great smile,
And spread those teeth for all to see,
Even if it means that who they're seeing,
Is never really ME.

Wow, this is really good (:

My favorite parts were the last two lines of the first stanza, and the last stanza all together, :p

    Good job!

There were good parts, and okay parts. I have to say, though, that your first stanza was not a good one. It seemed weak, and didn't really grab me.

However, I loved the second stanza. It flowed well, and had a good rhyme.

I think the third stanza would've been better if you'd of cut the third line down a little, to let it flow better.

The closing stanza was rather powerful, and what made it more so, was obviously the last line. A great way to end the piece - on a strong note.
