You Lost Me

by Sweet Disposition   Dec 16, 2008

It must feel like a burden,
Knowing you're to blame
Must really shatter your breaking heart strings,
One fierce, perpetual pain.

I bet it's almost like a demon,
Throwing failure at your skull
Persistently reminding you,
That life has never been so dull.

For you'll always carry the knowledge,
That you destroyed our pure perfection:
You smothered it, then crushed it's soul
And for that, there's no correction.

It's apparent in your posture,
Through your ever-bending spine
Your own guilty sweet announcement
Warning all, you cross the line.

Sometimes I smirk at your frustration,
As you gaze at what you threw away
Your eyes would burn with vicious anger,
But now they only show dismay

I can hear the tearing of your tendons
As you stretch for my fingertips,
The desperation is so visible,
But my heart you cannot fix...

For I've crossed the final barrier
And I'm who I need to be
You're just a helpless, broken wreck now
Must be a shame to say you lost me. :)

I thought the second and third stanzas were great! Great wording, great stucturing, great rhyming, lol. However, as with you last piece I commented on, I think the opening stanza was weak.

I like the way you refer to the body in the forth and sixth lines.

However, I think that closing stanza could've been a lot stronger.
