You're a Book I'll Never Finish

by Ixora   Dec 19, 2008

My life has divided differently now.

I have cut the way I see things
Into sections of hours and days.
Sections between the few times I still see you.
Sections between when my heart breaks
And I stop breathing.

I fill the time between seeing you
By thinking about you.
And I fill the minutes that I see you
Thinking about how to get away.
And make this sadness dull.

I've let these bottles run their course
No one dared glance inside.
Now even the sea is spitting them back
You're love is so tainted,
But only I couldn't see.

And so I have filled my whole self
With bittersweet redemption...
And nothing can confuse
Or take apart your heart more.
I'll never get out, will I?
If you could just fix this...

Some books are best left unread.....only too late do we see the words between the lines and a cold horror rises within us. A poem is naught but words, unless there is feeling behind them. Your poem is both deep and sad, something most would look away from. But beauty can be found in some odd places.....
