San Francisco to Seoul

by Steven   Dec 19, 2008

It was only a few years
but it felt like a eternity
i first knew your name
from a English class in school
you were special
because you weren't like
the other kids or other girls
you were one of a kind

From the city of Seoul
you were born and raised
from the schools of Seoul
you were taught Korean
from the country of Korea
you grew up to be a pretty Korean girl

your family moved to San Francisco
finding work in the American dream
you left your country
you grew up to love
for a place
you didn't even have a single clue about

it must have been hard for you
to leave your friends and family
it must have been painful for you
to say good-bye to your old home
and move to a unknown place
you must have been really strong that time
because you didn't seem to cry
only when you got on the plane
you slowly broke into tears
that was your past
and forever it will be a memory

now you live in the city of San Francisco
and there you met me
a boy who just so happens to be in your E.L.D class
i happen to recently moved from Taiwan
so i was new to the big apple and uncle Sam
i only speak in Chinese
and you only speak in Koreans
but we slowly became to understand each other
each day from school

when we were finally able to leave E.L.D
it was our last time together in a class
at first i felt like it was to much to for me
but you smiled to me
and hugged me and told me
that distance isn't a issue
after then i never saw you again

it wasn't long until i found out
that your family was moving back to Seoul
so you were packing your belongings and getting ready
to move back to your past
I was there that day
when you were crying
and telling me that it wasn't fair
i couldn't say a word
because i didn't want to seem like a weak boy
i just laughed and smiled
as tears rolled out
and told you that we will someday meet again
maybe here in San Francisco or Seoul
i promise you that we will meet again
we shook hands on this promise
and you were gone from my eyes
when i finish wiping my eyes

it's been four years now since we said our good-byes
right now in the city of Seoul i just arrived
check into a hotel and stared out to the skies
where are you now?
