Cliche

by StandStill   Dec 20, 2008

Lullabies are for sleeping,
but this is for when you are awake.
Just something caught between the lines
to maybe get us through our days.

I know we all do and say
these stupid, silly things.
The floor gets heavy with our tears
and all the burdens that we bring.

The clouds, they look so nice and soft,
all you really want is rest.
You've got nothing left inside of you,
it's empty in that chest.

Just so you know, my darling dear,
the rain can never be too thick.
It just means a little more running
and praying for clouds to lift.

Just so you know, my favourite one,
I'm here for you forever and a day.
You could make me cry a thousand years,
but I'm never ever going away.

Just so you know, my best friend,
I'm aware this poem's bad.
And I know I've done these terrible things
and I know you're feeling sad.

I just wanted to say I'm sorry,
you were never meant to take the blame.
And I know you feel you're trying so hard,
I want you to know, I feel the same.

Poems are for day to day,
I can't write you a song to sing.
I just wanted you to know, I love you.
And to me, you're everything.
