THE AFRICAN BABY GIRL (Part I)

by Korede Kuks   Dec 22, 2008

Though not wanted by her father
Nor appreciated by the tradition
Yet like the lilly of the valley
Her beauty covers the whole of the village

Though not given any opportunity of attaining greatness
Yet like a candy in the wind
She struggle to become the toast of all men
Like a wild rose, She adores herself in the heart
And house of an man she finds herself
She blossom in the midst of the storms
And shines like a millions stars in the sky
Though often unrecognised

Tears came from my eyes. Your words touches my heart. I've recently learnt that that so many families regret having a baby girl because of traditional beliefs that women are only good for child bearing and satisfied ther men. Can't these people opens their eyes? women are more than that. In the society today, women has lots of responsible positions, like president, prime minister, doctors, lawyers just to name a few. I hope you can educates these people because they are ignorant. I enjoy your write, keep it up. Well done, kel.
