Mental Abilities

by Michael D Nalley   Dec 29, 2008

Thinking of all our facilities
Some find pride in abilities
Ignoring the mind's limitations
Fearing the least intimidations

Some seek comfort in the mind
While the heart seems so blind
When we are forced to make choices
Deep inside we hear the voices

Conscience formed from nurture
Is the guide to the meek searcher
But for those with mental disease
Seems we don't know how to please

The lesser child of an awesome God
Most often sees beyond the facade
Feeling pain with a heart that's pure
There is no shame in the cure

So what if I am mentally unstable
With steadfast faith I should be able
Happy in the hope of the divine grace
Leading me onward to a holy place

"Most often sees passed the facade"
    passed = pass

"The lesser child of an awesome God
Most often sees passed the facade
Feeling pain with a heart that's pure
There is no shame in the cure

So what if I am mentally unstable
With steadfast faith I should be able
Happy in the hope of the divine grace
Leading me onward to a holy place"

    - I adored these lines. The first line, oh man it captured me so much. It was like a cherry ontop of the sundae. I think that the rest of the poem was okay, a bit blunt if you ask me. But, that's okay the last two stanzas absolutely, no question about it made up for that. Maybe that's what you were trying to do? Even if you weren't I like the idea of doing this. I've thought of it but I've never done it. The whole 'blahblahblah, WOWOWOW' thing. I'm not quite sure that's the way of putting it for this poem. It wasn't 'blah' it was just blunt, eh.
