Death of a memory.

by Anthony M   Jan 1, 2009

Last day of the tumultuous year is upon us
and your hold on me as strong as ever,
this weakness inside fills me with disgust
but I vow this shall not continue forever.

Finding myself here on the eve of the New Year
discarding every single memory I have of you,
I'd be lying if I said it wasn't without a tear
but the new dawn shall bring only a forward view.

Not one single smiling picture have I kept
I have broken free of your binding chains,
I shall not look back at where I once wept
on this eve I toast the future with champagne.

Sometimes we just have to toast the past and let bygones be. Wonderful write and thought the sadness eminates from this write and truly if it is a life experience you are sure to be a better person because of it. Great job on the write.

    Take Care,
