Those Hands (Retourne)

by Maddy   Jan 2, 2009

Those hands show the story of life
Crackled lines run through showing age
Wisdom forms the frail skin and bones
Life long lived, vivid in those hands.

Crackled lines run through showing age.
A young girl by old-fashioned sink
Gently scrubbing worn silverware
Humming a tune, voice sweet as roses.

Wisdom forms the frail skin and bones.
A young man in army dressings
Holding his hands, girl of his dreams
Flying to the music with joy.

Life long lived, vivid in those hands.
Husband and wife, children all grown
Gray hair and wrinkly faces
Those hands wrapped tight, never to part.
