Falling asleep

by robbie   Jan 10, 2009

I run my hand down your back
gently blow on your neck
listen to your breathing become deeper, slower, softer.
you take off your shirt, and all I'm left with is your bare back, soft to my touch.
all i want to do is kiss you, to succumb to my most basic feeling.
i caress your back, your neck, your waist, but why cant i kiss you.
you look so peaceful, so bare, so free that i don't want to disrupt your slumber.
i find myself drifting away.
you make a sound and bring me back.
i notice iv stopped touching you, stopped rocking you to sleep.
enough i say, enough i cant go on.
i glance at your back one last time, but this time i lean in, and plant the softest kiss i have ever given.
your hardly notice, and just nod a goodnight with a little tired smile.
good night my dear.
sleep well.
