She looks at me, like I'm such a great deal,
but never does she understand how I feel.
A monster I am, never to walk as any more.
The only time I was something, I was in the war.
I fought for this country, I did my good deed.
For the longest time no one caught up to speed.
Not until one day a man saw me and found out.
I told him I didn't know what he was talking about.
Unconvinced, unchanged, he saw with his eyes.
He saw through my cover, my lies, my disguise.
Immortal, though not exactly how it was phrased.
Enchanted he was, he simply stood in a daze.
Watching my movements, studying each night.
He kept quiet, but not for long, it he couldn't fight.
He told the commander, the army looked puzzled.
If only that jackass could have simply kept muzzled.
They took me away, and asked how I did it.
I may have been a monster, but I had hid it.
Never would they know, I disappeared the next day.
Nothing would find out, nothing could get in my way.
The hero thing doesn't work, trust me I have tried.
In the shadows is a much better place to reside.
Alone, unknown, forever lost from mankind.
That woman, each time, all she does is remind.
Remind me of the past, of when I was found out.
Scientists are something I'd like to do without.
I'm already a creature, let's leave it at that.
Not a massive weapon for enemy combat.
If only she could see...If only she'd know.
God! That woman! Why won't she go?!
This blood that pours, like tea from its spout,
I'll live on forever, no matter how much comes out.
No matter how injured I could possibly get,
No matter how much blood I could easily spit,
No matter how longing I feel for this death,
I'll awake the next day with another breath!
Out with the life, out with it all!
Get away soul, let this body fall!
Gone with survival, gone with this gift!
Please, God, this soul you must lift!!!
The very worst thing about being alive
is being able to watch no one survive.
Everyone dies, everyone but me...
Death will never hear out my plea.
Yay Jen! Another masterpiece in this series. You got me hooked girl! Haha. I loved learning more about him in this poem because in the other two he was still a bit of a mystery. You still kept that trait in this one but it was more honest and real. Loved the flow and the rhyme was perfect.
"He kept quiet, but not for long, it he couldn't fight."
^I dont like the words "it" here. It seems out of place and had me wondering what "it" was.
