Hanging Gardens Series (Part 2)

by Curing the Comon Cliche   Jan 12, 2009

The vines linger here
Just as they lingered long before
They dazzle our grey stone walls
Broken hearts not merely broken, they tore
Sometimes when you close your eyes
You can feel cold rain beat against your chest
Waiting for it to drown you now
You agreed with yourself it's best
We are bound forever here
By the vines, oh, by the vines
We shall be two statues here, my love
This way we shall never die
In the waking of tomorrow
With the sky bleeding in the clouds
The servants, they shall find us
On the stairs to God himself
We shall be forever statues
Frozen here in time
You will never know my warmth
Then again, neither will I

That last line is extremely dark. like, the last line is fantastic, my favourite. it just...it catches the reader off guard and makes them double take the rest of the poem. idk. maybe that was just me.
