Hanging Garden Series (Part 4)

by Curing the Comon Cliche   Jan 12, 2009

The gardens were sealed that morning
That was the last life the king will take
The statue and his evil eyes
Takes more blood than hearts can make

A year has passed since the servant girl
The garden has been un-kept
The king, the queen, the servant girl
Require more than what they have

They scream to the new owners
The last family left their home
The daughter of the newest king
Looks at the statue's throne

Years go by and the daughter
Becomes more beautiful each passing night
Her father had far too much wine
And has her as he might

She ran out of her bedroom
In tears and in her bedsheets
She takes a kitchen knife
Spills her blood at the statues feet

A new statue for the garden
A new name for it too
The roses were growing upside down
Thorns violent, as they grew

The garden of the hanging
That is now its bitter name
The king, his queen, their followers
Stare at each other through the rain

The dripping has a rhythm
As it falls from her face
The tears well in her eyes
She feels, now, her mistake

Forever in this existence
Forever here with him
In the hanging gardens
Hanging like it bears no sin
