Tell Me.

by Jenni Marie   Jan 21, 2009

Tell me how it's possible to miss someone
When they're lay right next to you
Cause it seems that's how I'm feeling
Admitting it's become way overdue

Tell me how it's possible to long to be closer
When you're already wrapped in their embrace
When you're already flying up in paradise
Alone together in your own special place

Tell me how it's possible to yearn for a kiss
When you shared a lingering one moments ago
Both safe and secure in wonderful knowledge
That neither of you have to be alone anymore

Tell me how it's possible to fall deeper every day
Love more than yesterday, not as much as tomorrow
Those private jokes, secret smiles plain to see
So loved up, waved goodbye to heartache and sorrow

So tell me do you have any of the answers
Cause I admit that I really don't have a clue
If you can answer me I'd really like to know
Cause this sums up how I feel about you

For some reason, this poem reminded me of a child that asks question after question after question ( my daughter is great at that!). I love the use of rhetorical questions that are along the lines of an oxymoron. I have to admit that I mis-took the poem from the first few lines. I thought that it would be a poem about someone who questioned their love for another; like you wanted to be closer to someone but you could not seem to get there. It was a pleasant surprise to seem the contrary.

I could really relate to some of the questions you asked as well. It is always good to give readers a way to see themselves in your work.
