Little Girls

by InvisiblyHeartless   Jan 22, 2009

Little girls want ponies and dolls
I wanted my daddy back
Barely in that new year, you left
No dresses and princess movies
I climbed trees and played sports
You weren't there, never cared
All I did, turned out a plain waste
Still not here, still don't care
Little girls want coloring books
I wished to please an invisible dad
I just wanted you to say something
Something to tell me you WERE there
It's been years
In 8 days, sir
It will have been eight years
But another five years, you were gone
Little girls want a teddy bear
I wanted a soccer ball to kick
Run, little one, run like the wind
Fade from reality, see his face
Watch him cheer for you, score
Look up and know he isn't standing
Be smart, think about it
Imagine he's there, for once
But you know he won't be, never will
Little girls want to stay little
I wanted to grow up, grow to you
I'm still growing, still waiting
You aren't here, never have been
Still trying to make you come back
Not to the family, just to me
Still wasting my time, waiting
Efforts in vain, the time is garbage
It's over, now
I'm done. You can't mess me up
Not any more, I'm done with it
No more games, no more failures
Just a gate, walk through, walk away

It's a very sad piece and you can feel the emotion youv'e placed into the wording =]
It's quite a long poem so it looks like you spent a while on it but I found the flow a little choppy here and there, maybe if you were to spilt the poem into sections or even add / remove somewording the poem would run more smoothly.
Overall it's a really good write, great job ^^
