The Key to My Heart

by Diane   Jan 23, 2009

You alone hold the key that opens
The deepest of feelings in me
Only you can discover the treasures
And make a reality my dream

I met you when I was a young girl
In the 8th grade and only fourteen
Had I known that we'd meet in the future
Would have wised up and re-wrote the scene

I would hold you and love you forever
Never let you forget that I care
Wouldn't take your presence for granted
Be so confident you'd always be there

Had I been the woman you longed for
Had I listened to words said by you
I would not be alone and tormented
You'd be with me not somebody new

In my heart I know our love is destiny
Deep inside you know that I'm right
We can't just walk away from each other
And disappear into the night

When you decide that you're ready
To open my heart one last time
From that day it will be yours forever
And the key to your heart will be mine

A nice love poem, waiting for an old love and for your heart to be opened with that key. Well done.
