Angel

by ben thompson   Jan 25, 2009

Searing darkness envelops, this voided hole called life.
Uncounted sorrows befallen, maimed by a ripping knife.

Razors embedding further, deeply carving flesh and skin.
Despair eats our essence, rotting minds of honest men.

Ubiquitous nightmares reign, shaking the core of our soul.
Merciful Lord sends an angel, filling hearts pitch as coal.

Cajoling us toward light, blissful end to blackened days.
Unfettering our freedom, erasing midnights dismal haze.

Blazing eyes exuding beauty, fine hair of silk and wine.
Redeeming mans worthless lives, damned by evil Divine.

Bountiful blessings bestowed, rescued from the beast.
Peace restored to a broken man, torture ever ceased.

Wow what a poem. The dark days of our lives and then Angels are sent to show us there is light left in this dark cruel world. Great word choices and fantastic imagery!

You have captured the essence of angels or at least my belief in them and their work for mankind. I believe they are with us everyday to protect and watch out for us. I think in this line the "and" should be "an"

Merciful Lord sends and angel, filling hearts pitch as coal

    Good work. 5/5
