The Smile

by Ariel   Jan 26, 2009

When you see me,
You'll probably see a smile,
That covers up my sorrow,
& my pain deep down inside.

You'll probably never know,
Why I grieve or why I sigh;
They are hidden by a smile,
While on the inside I cry.

You may think I'm cheerful,
But my smile surely lies;
I wallow in my sadness,
& only God knows why.

My heart knows it all,
But my smile says otherwise;
& the sound of my laughter,
Drowns out all my cries.

The depression I am in,
Is surely not worthwhile;
But all the pain I feel,
Is hidden by a smile.
