Titanic

The Titanic,
That grand boat,
"Marvelous," adults shouted,
"Beautiful," children laughed,
"Unsinkable," everyone thought,
That grand ship,
The Titanic.

It was a moonless night,
There was no surf,
And an ice burg loomed near,
Hovering in the water,
Hiding from those who seek it,
Will it hit her?

SMACK!
The Titanic hit it,
The sound like a gunshot,
Some snow scattered on board,
Young children played with it,
Little did they know
They had an hour left
Or death will face them.

The first four compartments
Became full of water,
The fifth room had water pouring in,
Titanic slowly began to sink.

People didn't believe the truth,
For they thought she was unsinkable,
Lifeboats were halfway filled,
For people refused to go on them.

CRACK!
Titanic began to split across her waist,
One half tilted in the water,
Lifeboats were now becoming crammed,
People began jumping in the icy water,
The accepted reality, the truth.

She started to sink,
Faster and faster,
She faded into the water,
Disappearing from the survivors' weary eyes.

Down the Titanic sank,
Down to the soft coral beds,
Where she will rest in peace,
Until discovered again.
