Funny Pain

by Faithless Watermelon   Jan 27, 2009

Just before you read, the only part of this that the title actually refers to is when I started pretty much rambling in prose. The stanzas of poetry are really just there to kick-start your brain o.o
lemme know how that works out

==================================================

I love how lustrous tears taste
But I hate the way they roll down my face
Rain makes me cry but it never hurts
Off with my shirt and on home I race

You are gone
I can't get you back
But I know
You'll never be lost

In my heart I'm crying
In my mind I'm lying
In my soul I'm dying
But in your arms I smile

Look for the silver lining
Something inside is still shining
The mirror tells me I'm alive
I know that I'll survive

I shouldn't drown the voices
I think my brain stopped at three
Remembering just two choices
And my heart joins at number twelve

Follow the light
This isn't right
Don't have to fight
Dead end in sight

Would you like to know why I laugh so much?
When I was just a boy, I went to the movies
Not alone, of course, I had a lovely girl with me
We were very close friends
And I had considered her at that point, my girlfriend

What I remember most is that she never did anything
But smile or giggle
When she smiled, so did I
When she giggled, so did I

When the movie was over, it was late

The neighborhood where she lived wasn't a great one
There were no drug dealers on corners or shootings every day
But being mugged was nothing new to anybody
We were tired and took a shortcut
Behind the school
Just three blocks to my lovely little friend's house
Silhouettes at the end of the alley

All of a sudden, there was a thunderous crack
From behind us
I'm sure that you can picture now
That we
Were caught in the crossfire of some petty squabble
Between a bunch of party poopers

The first thing through my mind was to save this girl
That had begged me to take her to this movie
Anyway... I tossed both of us over a fence
And into somebody's yard
A light turns on, and I look at the body of this girl
This bloody body, cold, just a body, that I happily carried to her parents house
Laughing all the way

I laugh
Because she laughs
And it never stops
Her cute little giggle just goes on all day in my head

I used to cry but I ran out of tears and just started giggling
Don't you think it's fun to giggle?

Firstly, if this is true, oh my... I would be able to say a very simmular thing happened to me though. Well simmular in my opinion.

Anyway, this piece is amazing. The story and the emotion are both so enticing in this piece. Even though it is long, it is interesting. Your choice of words was wonderful, and it helped create a magnificent flow; in most places. There are wonderful examples of many things though every poetry aspect is dead on perfection.

I love this piece so much. Excellent job.
