Our Love Never Failed

I didn't know anyone
And nobody knew me
This new place seemed nice
Everyone talked to me.

But there was this one boy
Long hair and a sweet face
I didn't know his name
But I saw him all over the place.

He didn't seem to talk much
I thought that maybe he was shy
But one day I was shooting hoops
And to my surprise, he said "hi".

Not long after that
We were holding hands and playing
And I told God "Thank you" every night
As I sat next to my bed praying.

I was so happy and I liked him so much
Until our first date at the dance
That night I fell in love
And I hoped and prayed we had a chance.

But all my happiness ended
When I found I had to move away
I couldn't bare to tell the boy
So I begged and pleaded to stay.

After awhile me and him stopped talking
And I had dropped out of school
I started drinking and doing drugs
Because I thought it was so cool.

A couple years had passed
And I got the boys number to call
The phone rang and I heard his voice
And then my heart began to fall.

About a month later
I was on my way to see him
My heart was pounding heavy
I was dizzy and the light was going dim.

The second I saw his face again
My entire body went numb
I opened my mouth but nothing came out
I felt so stupid and dumb.

We were sitting down and talking
I told him he was all I could think of
He said he's still thought of me too
And that night, we made love.

It's been a little while since then
We're engaged and planning to marry
We're so happy together again
And we're both parents-to-be.

We're falling in love all over again
And I knew our love would never fail
I knew that you were my shining prince
In this life-long fairy-tale.
